On April 17, 2025, the Kent Higher Ed Coalition will join students, faculty, and staff across the country for the National Day of Action for Higher Education, a coordinated, nationwide mobilization in defense of higher education, academic freedom, and democratic values.
The Kent Higher Ed Coalition is a collective of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and concerned community members. Acting as private citizens and connected to groups across Kent State University and throughout the Kent community, coalition members came together in response to mounting threats to higher education—both in Ohio and across the United States.
The Kent Higher Ed Coalition has organized a day of activities on the Kent campus of Kent State University in support of this day. As part of the day's activities, the coalition will also collect signatures to place a repeal of Senate Bill 1 (SB1) on the Ohio ballot, joining a growing grassroots effort to push back against state overreach into higher education.
The Kent Higher Ed Coalition is a group of private citizens who love Kent State University and are committed to protecting it from attacks on higher education.
